Reunification War

Ki Zoban was a core world within the Outworlds Alliance when Operation UNION HOLD began in 2581. With the intention of forcibly incorporating the Outworlds Alliance into the Star League following the mass rejection of the Pollux Proclamation in 2575 by the major Periphery states, the invasion of the Outworlds Alliance saw two corps of Star League Defense Force troops and a mixed brigade of DCMS forces begin systematically occupying Alliance worlds. Ki Zoban escaped the attentions of the Outworlds Alliance Task Force until January 2583.[1]

Ki Zoban was an unremarkable world when the Star League forces arrived; although elements of the Alliance 4th Armored Division had been present on Ki Zoban in 2581 and early 2583, the planetary milita was the weakest of any Alliance core world and the planet itself was valuable only as a strategic asset, due to it's close proximity to the Alliance capital of Alpheratz. The commander of the Star League V Corps tasked the 40th Brigade of the 14th Division to conquer Ki Zoban; the 40th Brigade landed on the 30th of January to find the militia defending the planetary capital, Mikanda, and rolled over them in just four hours. Within 5 days all of the militia were dead or in captivity, and by the end of February the 40th Brigade was back up to 95% combat strength.[1]

The entire of V Corps began massing on Ki Zoban from February onwards, with the exception of the remnants of the 37th Royal Brigade, which were still rebuilding on Bryceland. The commander of the Star League campaign against the Alliance, General Amos Forlough, began an advance on the key Alliance world of Cerberus in early 2583 using forces from II Corps, and Forlough ordered the V Corps Commander, Major General Victoria Zibler, to begin a campaign against other Alliance worlds. Although the V Corps campaign would be more limited due to a lack of transport assets compared to II Corps, V Corps began an eight month seek-and-destroy campaign targetting the industry and civilian population of worlds the Star League had yet to occupy. Zibler would dispatch forces from Ki Zoban to attack Lushann in March, followed by Dindatari and Morthac in April and May. The last major formation to leave Ki Zoban was the 40th Brigade, who deployed to Tellman IV in July 2583.[2][20]

Ki Zoban would be garrisoned by Star League forces until the end of the war in 2585; after peace was declared on the 1st of August 2585 with the enactment of the Treaty of Cerberus Ki Zoban returned to Outworlds Alliance control, and would remain an Outworlds Alliance world throughout the Star League era.[4]
