The Lyran Auxiliary Corps was a group of Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces units that supported the Star League Defense Force during Operation MAILED FIST of the Reunification War.[1]

History

The Lyran Auxiliary Corps was led by Archon Viola Steiner-Dinesen at the head of the Fourth Royal Guards, along with the Twenty-fifth Skye Rangers and Tamar Tigers.[2]

Though the Corps operated well and was effective in completing their assigned tasks, only the Fourth would remain in the field for the entirety of the Reunification War. The Archon's son Kevin was kidnapped, and when evidence came to light implicating the Dukes of Skye and Tamar, she mounted her Warhammer and attacked the base camp of the Rangers and Tigers on Barcelona. The Rangers and Tigers were completely unprepared for the attack and suffered heavy losses. The Archon was also injured, and spent most of June and July 2591 in a coma. Eventually SLDF forces arrived and separated the combatants, but the damage was done. The Skye Rangers and Tamar Tigers withdrew from the task force citing their unwillingness to fight for the Archon.[3]

At the end of the war, Steiner-Dinesen was placed in operational command of the landings on Apollo. Her objective was the capital city of Terra Prime, where the Rim Provisional Government was fortified. The Fourth Royal Guards faced a tough fight, first clearing rings of gun emplacements and bunkers around the capital and then facing off against the Seventh Amaris Legionnaires and Eighth Amaris Dragoons, who were bottled up and well supplied while the Fourth was out in bad monsoon weather. Though the Archon devised a clever plan to lure the rebels out of the city into a trap of waiting SLDF, Free Worlds League Military, and loyal Amaris forces, a communications glitch delayed the reinforcements and the Fourth was nearly destroyed. The Archon would be mortally wounded and died shortly after returning home to Tharkad.[4][5]
