Geography

Manteno is experiencing a period of sometimes violent geologic activity which has disrupted lives and industries on the planet. In 3025, the ComStar facility was closed for repairs due to damage sustained during several earthquakes.[1] These eruptions began in 3017 and eight years later 20% of the population had emigrated and 10% of the businesses on the world had relocated elsewhere.[1]

This tectonic activity was unusual, in fact Terran Hegemony scientists found Manteno a stable world with easily reached minerals, metals, and gemstones. The world was quickly settled and became a cornerstone of the Federated Suns' economy. During the First Succession War a raid by the Draconis Combine damaged or destroyed most of the factories on the world. It took two centuries to rebuild them, and then the earthquakes began.[1]
