History[edit]

Third Succession War[edit]

In January 3025 the Raman Draconis March Militia was stationed on Deshler to reinforce the Fourth Davion Guards. They faced Wolf's Dragoons Gamma Regiment at Valerian Bay. They were forced to withdraw.[1]

The Raman Draconis March Militia (along with the Bremond Draconis March Militia) arrived on Galtor III in late August 3025 to reinforce the Thirty-third Avalon Hussars and Twelfth Vegan Rangers. There they faced off against the Seventeenth Benjamin Regulars and the Fifth Galedon Regulars. The Combine units had the Raman DMM trapped, but a quick strike by the Bremond DMM allowed the two March Militia units to join forces and escape.[2] Later the Raman DMM would face the Seventeenth Benjamin Regulars and the First Amphigean Light Assault Group, and though they fought valiantly, the Raman DMM was destroyed.[3] On the 12th of September two battalions from the Seventeenth chased down Seymour's Battalion of the Raman Draconis March Militia. While the two battalions from the Seventeenth skirmished with Seymour's Battalion, the two Seventeenth scored few if any kills, as the attached Combine aerospace fighters had complete control of the air and were responsible for strafing and destroying almost all of the Raman DMM 'Mechs encountered. The last three surviving members of Seymour's Battalion made it to the Innersea coast of the McGraw Plains, with the two battalions from the Seventeenth in close pursuit; faced with no support or ability to retreat, the senior surviving AFFS MechWarrior, Bernard Domingo, challenged Tai-sa Timothy Elazar of the Seventeenth to a duel to decide their fate; Domingo offered the surrender of all three survivors if he was defeated, but requested that the three be released to the Raman DMM with their 'Mechs if he defeated Elazar. Elazar agreed, stating that Domingo's offer brought honor to himself and the Raman DMM; however, before the duel could begin, Combine aerospace fighters attacked and destroyed all three AFFS 'Mechs, killing their pilots, despite orders and pleas from Elazar and the other warriors of the Seventeenth to break off the attack. Elazar and a fellow Tai-sa, Jacob Gonen, were so incensed with what they saw as the dishonorable actions of the aerospace pilots that they actively worked to suppress details of the battle, assuring that the aerospace forces received no honor or praise from the battle; the two Tai-sas also recovered two of the three fallen MechWarrior's bodies and transported the remains to New Wuhan City for burial or return to their families, with full honors and respect due. The third body was recovered later, and two of the fallen were husband and wife, Bernard Domingo and Annabelle Domingo; Elazar and Gonen made a point of returning to Galtor III in 3045 to visit their graves, and paid for a special dual gravestone to be erected for the Domingos, replacing the generic AFFS markers in place. The truth about the battle with Seymour's Battalion on Galtor III came to light in 3065, after a detailed investigation by Professor Douglas Running-Elk of the NAIS and a Combine academic, Tai-i Toshibo of the Dover Institute for Higher Learning.[4]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

As the Raman DMM was newly rebuilt, they didn't participate in the Fourth Succession War's offensive strikes.[5] They did, however, defend Klathandu IV from the Ninth Benjamin Regulars, sustaining heavy losses but pinning the Ninth Benjamin in place long enough for the First FedCom RCT to arrive and break the siege.[6] Many worlds taken by the Draconis Combine during the Fourth Succession War were originally a part of the Raman PDZ. As a result, the Raman DMM was constantly agitating for an attack on the Combine. Their many skirmishes gave them a high amount of captured DCMS equipment.[7]

FedCom Civil War[edit]

During the FedCom Civil War, most of the Raman DMM remained on Raman as both a strategic reserve for the Draconis March forces attacking the Combine and to discourage a Combine counterattack. A single brigade was assigned to Breed briefly, but was recalled when Tancred Sandoval made peace with the Draconis Combine.[8]

The Jihad[edit]

The Raman DMM spent most of the Jihad protecting their homeworld and neighboring systems. This meant that they came through the Jihad relatively intact. In fact their greatest losses will be due to the reassignment of troops and equipment to rebuild other units. This will also reduce the Raman DMM to a Light Combat Team formation, like the other units in the March Militias.[9]

In 3085 the unit had built up and was only ten percent below its requested strength.[10]

Officers[edit]

Rank Name Command
Commanding Officers of the Raman Draconis March Militia
Major General Conroy Baden-Powell 3025-3028[11][12]
Leftenant General Reneé Mazner 3050 - 3067[13][14][7][15]

Tactics[edit]

The Raman DMM hoped to use their captured DCMS equipment to sow confusion among Combine forces.[17]
