31st Division (Word of Blake)

Unit Description

The 31st Division was a "hidden" Word of Blake Militia force that was not revealed until break out of the Jihad war. The unit was notable for partipating in three battles for New Avalon. Also being of first "hidden" Militia unit to appear in public.

History

The early Battles for New Avalon

The unit first appeared in December 3067 as on of the first Blake forces hit New Avalon. The Division was freshly equipmented and unexperienced in battle. Under the cover of its Warships' bombardment, the 31st landed in Farmlands in Avalon County where they faced the Tenth Lyran Guards while trying proceed for New Avalon City. The Tenth attempted to cut them off, having penetrating the 31st screening force. It attempted to hit the 31st supply train which consisted of large Prairie Schooner Land Trains. However, the Divisionial forces were able to repulse these attack.[1] That badly out numbered Divsion fought in the First Battle for New Avalon and over course three weeks was forced off the planet.

Remaining in system due to Blakist naval superiority, the unit attempted invade New Avalon again with the 36th Division. The two Division fought together in another attempt to capture the planet.

Again the 31st and now its sister unit lose Second Battle of New Avalon to its stubborn Davion defenders.[2]

Third Battle for New Avalon

In later 3072, the 44th Shadow Division arrived to join the remains of the 31st and 36th Divisions in brutal campaign in a bid to take the planet. The three Divisions lead by the 44th's commander, finally achieve a victory in battle to take the planet in 3073.

The brutalized forces secure the Mount Davion command post and the ruins of Avalon City. Allied Davion forces begun to muster another battle to re-take the planet, 31st and other Divisions receive a recall order in 3074.[3]

Merged with 36th Division & Raiding

The 31st was battle depleted by time recall order issued. The Division was effectively merged with the 36th Division. The force was spotted conducting supply raids in Crucis March. Direction of the raids, lead the intelligence agencies suggest that 31st was heading to the Marian Hegemony.[4]

Rules

When assigning pilots to the 31st Division, a set number of pilots will be elite, while another set will be veteran. A select number of elements deployed will be selected from the House Davion Random Assignment Tables, instead of using the Word of Blakes'.[5]
