Unit Description
The 79th Division is an old ComStar Combined-Arms[1] military formation, assigned to the Com Guards 4th Army.
History
Early Unit History
It is unclear when the unit official formed, the it first appeared in ComStar's Alula Australis Theater in Free Worlds League. The Division was assigned to the HPG Station on Zdice. Prior to the Clan War and Battle for Tukayyid, the unit nickname was Straight Words IV-epsilon it was assigned to the 8th Army.[2]
Clan Invasion
While assigned to the 8th Army, the unit was deployed to Tukayyid in 3052.
Tukayyid
The Division along with others units of 8th Army were deployed to the Kozice Valley. Among the fighting against the Clan Diamond Sharks, the unit was noted in its action against the Clan's Omega Galaxy where it engaged suicidal freebirth warriors to the death.[3]

Chao March
By 3067, during its stay in the Chaos March, the unit was frustrated by Capellan Confederation's armed forces. The unit had its supplies cut off due to its long standing disputed with House Liao.[4]

Notes
The 79th Division along with other Com Guard Level IV formations since Tukayyid described combined armed forces. The original Tukayyid (scenario pack) describes typically Division consisting of two Level IIIs (Battalions) of BattleMechs, single Level III of Aerospace fighters, two Level IIIs of Armored/Combat Vehicles/Tanks and single Level III worth of infantry (4 Infantry Battalions).[11]
