Clan Diamond Shark's Omega Galaxy had the strongest ties to the Clans' Merchant Caste.[1]
History[edit]
The Galaxy accompanied Alpha and Gamma Galaxies to the Inner Sphere during Operation Revival. One Cluster was lost on Tukayyid while extracting the remnants of Alpha and Gamma, while two more were destroyed when Clan Ghost Bear retook the staging world of Nyserta.[1] A few Stars of Piranhas were seen attached to Omega on Tukayyid and proved quite effective.[2][3] Omega was later rebuilt with reserve warriors, which lowered its quality ratings.[1]
Once the Diamond Sharks had acquired their trading worlds in the Inner Sphere, elements of Omega Galaxy were assigned as the garrison forces. This led to an interesting dichotomy: The Omega Galaxy units were assigned to represent the Merchant Caste's interests above others, while any other Diamond Shark unit on the worlds were to represent the Warrior Caste's interests.[4] The Coral Skate and 101st Strike Cluster garrisoned Trondheim, while the Thirty-fifth Cruiser Cluster and Fifty-seventh Combined Assault Cluster garrisoned Itabaiana. The Seventeenth Air Assault Cluster was stationed on the WarShip Devourer and shuttled between various Diamond Shark holdings.[5]
During the Jihad Omega Galaxy was performed for garrison duties on Trondheim and Itabaiana. They also responded to the execution of Diamond Shark civilians on Nykvarn by the Draconis Combine. The Coral Skate and Fifty-seventh Combined Assault Cluster entered Combine space and inflicted massive losses on the Twelfth Dieron Regulars and Twenty-second Dieron Regulars.[6]
The Bloody Tricentennial attacks found the Thirty-fifth Cruiser Cluster defending a manufacturing plant on Itabaiana, but the Fifty-seventh Combined Assault Cluster couldn't protect IndustriPlex-C from being destroyed by a hijacked civilian airliner. The Fifty-seventh assisted in recovery operations and then the units of the Bloodscent Galaxy joined the Diamond Shark's merchant fleets.[7]
