Planetary History[edit]
Operation REVIVAL[edit]
Clan Ghost Bear would capture Nyserta during their inbound assault through Periphery during Operation Revival in the later part of 3049.[37]
While the Diamond Sharks were denied a place in the initial invasion and forced to serve as a reserve Clan, after the election of Ulric Kerensky as ilKhan they were given permission to launch a Trial for a staging world; the Diamond Sharks opted to try and wrest control of Nyserta from Clan Ghost Bear in March 3052. Nyserta was defended by the Fifth Phalanx Cluster of the Bear's Pi Galaxy, and the Shark Khans selected the 369th Striker Cluster to Trial for the planet. The 369th Striker Cluster advanced to the designated battlefield on the Luman Plains to find the Ghost Bear forces waiting for them; both sides exchanged long-range fire for ten minutes before the 369th began to get the upper hand, at which point the Ghost Bear 'Mechs melted into the woods around the plains' north edge. Sending his lighter 'Mechs and a Star of Elementals to pursue them, with his heavier units following fast behind, Star Colonel Arlond expected the Bears to swiftly turn and fight.[17]
Instead the Bears maintained their running retreat for two days before turning and smashing through the 369th's light 'Mechs, the Sharks having been forced to stretch their ranks to keep up with the Ghost Bears as they drew the pursuit force further and further from aid. Flush with the success of this false-retreat tactic, the Fifth Phalanx now advanced at full speed towards the Shark's trailing heavy and assault 'Mechs, only to be forced back. With the Bears swinging eastward in an attempt to flank the 369th, Star Colonel Arlond split off a heavy and assault Star from his forces south towards the woods at top speed in an attempt to flank the Ghost Bears, using his remaining three 'Mech Stars to face the Fifth.[17]
Despite now being outnumbered three to one, Arlond's troops held their ground in the face of bloody combat against the Bears until the flanking Stars accompanied by the surviving light 'Mechs and Elementals of the pursuit force charged out of the woods and into the Fifth Phalanx's rear. Taken completely by surprise, the Fifth Phalanx were defeated and the 369th claimed the world for Clan Diamond Shark.[17]
The Shark's Omega Galaxy would garrison Nyserta as their Clan proceeded to use the planet as a clearinghouse for the efforts of their Merchant Caste.[38]
In the wake of the Diamond Shark's disastrous showing during the Battle of Tukayyid, several determined Ghost Bear Clusters would eject the Sharks from Nyserta and the Inner Sphere as a whole.[39]
The world would eventually be taken by Clan Wolf.[citation needed]
Jihad[edit]
The conquest of Nyserta and the nearby Oberon VI system during the last two weeks of November 3070 marked the return of Clan Hell's Horses to the Inner Sphere and the beginning of their campaign against Clan Wolf.[25] The Horses still held the world in 3084.[40] However, by 3086 the Horses had withdrawn and the system became part of the Ferris Collective.[41]
