Description

The Deimos is a Clan Assault OmniMech, which was developed by Clan Snow Raven. The 'Mech was first developed during the middle of the 3060s, allegedly on the Kerensky Cluster world of Lum. However, Inner Sphere intelligence agencies stopped hearing rumors about the 'Mech during the Jihad and it faded from memory. In 3085, the Snow Ravens revealed the existence of the Deimos to the Inner Sphere. It was produced on the Clan's Inner Sphere world, Dante.

The 85-tonner is powered by a Type 255 rated Extralight Fusion engine, which it shares with the second-line Assault 'Mech, the Omen. Twenty-eight Double Heat Sinks are fitted so help mitigate any heat issues that 'Mech's system may generate. Despite its slower speed than typical OmniMech it size, engineers installed MASC which allows it to go marginally faster to keep up with comparable older designs. The Clan 'Mech is protected by 14.5 tons of Standard Armor, where it again differs from typical its contemporaries from the past.

When it first appeared in the Inner Sphere, the Deimos was considered pride of the Clan and least one was assigned to every cluster within touman.[3]

Armament

Aside from its 43-ton equipment capacity, the 'Mech has a few permanently mounted weapons. These include two ER Medium Lasers, one assigned to each of 'Mech's side torsos. To provide from protection from inbound missile fire, a single Anti-Missile System is mounted in the Deimos' head. The single ton of ammunition for the AMS is located in the center torso.

The Primary Configuration is geared toward anti-air role, where its arms have three Class 2 Ultra Autocannons and pair of 15-tubed Long-Range Missile Launchers. Both weapons are provided with three tons of ammunition, where the LRMs ammo stored in side torsos and the ACs in both torsos and the arms.[4]

Alternate Configurations

  • Alt. Config. A - This configuration is geared towards general combat. The configuration features pair of ER PPCs mounted in each of the side torsos. Also found in each of its arms, is pair of LB 10-X Autocannons and three tons of ammo. BV(2.0)=2,785[5]
  • Alt. Config. B - The B configuration has four LRM 10 launchers splits between its two side torsos. While pair of ER PPCs and Large Pulse Lasers mounted in the 'Mechs arms. The 'Mech's LRM ammunition is split in three ton allotments are in each of its two arms actuators. The configuration equipment listings also features ECM Suite and two additional Double Heat Sinks. BV(2.0)=2,965[6]
  • Alt. Config. C - The C configuration main firepower comes from its pair of Class 10 Ultra Autocannons and two ER Large Lasers. A pair of Small Pulse Lasers are fitted help deal with possible infantry threats to the 'Mech. All these weapons are split between the 'Mech two pod locations in the arm actuators. The 'Mech's tactical capacities are increased with fitting with exclusion of an ECM Suite and four Improved Jump Jets in the side torsos. BV(2.0)=2,737[7]
  • Alt. Config. S - The S Configuration is specially designed for the Raven's need for a space-based 'Mech. Configuration is almost identical to the "C" configuration with following exceptions. Which includes a Liquid Storage Tank and four Improved Jump Jets fitted to aid the Deimos in this role. The ECM suite from "S" Configuration is omitted from design in favor of the Liquid Tank. [8] BV(2.0)=2,664[9]

Variants

  • Deimos 2 - A Non-Omni variant of the Deimos, this design features notably Experimental equipment. This version speculated by AFFS intelligence as being based on original prototype for the Deimos. The 'Mech features same weapons layout (including permanent mounted weapons) as the Primary Configuration. The Deimos head mounted AMS system is exchanged for experimental Laser version. The 'Mech armor capacity reduced to 13 tons, but uses Ferro-Fibrous instead of the standard armor. Its engine is upgraded to a 340 rated XL Fusion, while only having ten double heat sinks. Its MASC equipment allows the design move upwards of 86 kph.[10] BV(2.0)= 2,394[11]

Notes

The Deimos was originally conceived by the BattleTech software fansite Mektek.com. Their 'Mech stats are identical to the canon Deimos 2 stats.
