Description

The Falcon is a BattleMech that was first produced in the 26th century and was nearing extinction when Wolf's Dragoons arrived in the Inner Sphere. With their arrival, the Dragoons seemed to have had a mysterious source of the design at the time. The Dragoons also updated the 'Mechs in their possession with newer Star League technology, making them superior to the original models. In the 3050s, the Falcon was considered a good light recon and skirmishing 'Mech. With a top speed of 97.2 kph and a jumping distance of one hundred and fifty meters, it could keep up with most other light recon 'Mechs. As the decade progressed, however, newer light 'Mechs were faster and faster, outclassing the Falcon. Its saving grace was that its use of a standard Fusion Engine kept the 'Mech cheap so that mercenary units could afford to upgrade to newer technology.

Armament

The Falcon carries a light arsenal that is primarily based around energy weapons. The primary weapon is a Magna 400P Medium Pulse Laser which is a short ranged, but highly accurate, weapon. Additionally, the Falcon has two Omnicron 1000 Small Lasers. Finally, for protection from missiles, the 'Mech carries a Sure Fire 444 Anti-Missile System

Variants

  • FLC-4N - The original Falcon, the 4N model, has a lighter arsenal more common of light 'Mechs. The primary weapon is a standard Medium Laser with two Small Lasers as secondary weapons. To deter infantry attacks, the 'Mech carries two rear mounted Machine Guns. BV (1.0) = 523, BV (2.0) = 610
  • FLC-4Nb - The Royal Falcon carries a Snub-Nose PPC backed up with two medium lasers. It has double heat-sinks, and is built on an Endo-Steel chassis. BV (2.0) = 947[2]
  • FLC-4Nb-PP - Used by the Pentagon Powers, the PP variant replaces the advanced snub-nose particle cannon with a standard model. The increased weight, however, requires the removal of the medium laser mounted in the right arm. BV (2.0) = 881 [3]
  • FLC-4Nb-PP2 - Another Pentagon Power modification, the PP2 replaces the snub-nose PPC with an ER Large Laser. The saved ton allows the left arm laser to be upgraded with pulse technology. BV (2.0) = 947[4]

  • FLC-5P - This upgrade of the 4P for the general mercenary market debuted in 3065. A ton of armor is removed to make way for a MASC system that kicks the Falcon's speed up to 129 km/h in bursts. The Small Lasers are upgraded to ER Medium Lasers and Targeting Computer guides all three medium-class lasers. To make all of this possible, a Light Fusion Engine was included and the anti-missile system was removed.[6] BV (2.0) = 945[7]
  • FLC-6C - This variant was used exclusively by Wolf's Dragoons as it features Clan-tech. It simply upgrades the armament of the 4P to Clan standards, including an ER Large Laser that replaced the pulse laser. Each arm carries an ER Small Laser, and Targeting Computer aids the accuracy of all three lasers. The ammunition bin of the anti-missile system was also upgraded to the Clan version, which carries twice as many rounds. BV (2.0) = 1,290
