Outfitted with the finest equipment and with personnel from all parts of the Federated Commonwealth, the Federated Commonwealth Corps represented the first new units belonging solely to the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth. The fortunes of the FedCom RCTs has mirrored the nation of their birth, the collapse of the Commonwealth and the bitter and divisive role the Corps played in the FedCom Civil War leading to their disbandment.

History
The Federated Commonwealth Corps origins stem from the initial formation of the Federated Commonwealth, with the first unit being created from Melissa Steiner's wedding gift to Hanse Davion of a regiment of BattleMechs, seeing action during the Fourth Succession War.
By 3057 the Corps had reached a total of 12 complete RCTs, when the Marik-Liao Invasion of 3057 and Katherine Steiner-Davion's secession of the Lyran Alliance shattered the Corps. Those FedCom RCTs stationed in the Lyran half of that former state were either broken up to bolster other units such as the Alliance Jaegers or kept intact but renamed under the banner of the Alliance Guards. With Katherine's rise to rule of both the Alliance and the rump Federated Commonwealth, the loyalties of the remaining FedCom Corps began to fragment badly and the FedCom RCTs and Alliance Guards were involved in some of the most bitter fighting during the FedCom Civil War, the actions of the 8th FedCom remembered as the trigger for active warfare in the conflict.
After the end of the FedCom Civil War and the renaming of the Davion half of the shattered nation back to the Federated Suns, the remains of shattered FedCom Corps units were folded into other Davion units mauled in that conflict. The sole exception was the intact and relatively untainted 1st FedCom RCT, Melissa Steiner's wedding gift, which was renamed as the 1st Federated Suns Lancers.

Color Scheme and Corps Insignia
The parade colors of the Federated Commonwealth Corps was navy blue with gold banding on the arms and legs. Gold is also used on the upper torso of the 'Mechs and the turrets of armor units to highlight panels, resulting in a checkerboard pattern. The insignia of the Federated Commonwealth RCTs was a hybrid of that used by the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth; the backdrop is the Davion Sunburst, over which is set the mailed fist of House Steiner, and in front that the Davion Sword.
