Despite a somewhat enigmatic origin, the Jenner IIC is a powerful and fast light striker 'Mech.

Description

Serving with distinction during Operation REVIVAL among the forces of Clan Nova Cat, unlike other similar IIC refreshes of staple Star League Defense Force 'Mechs the Jenner IIC caused confusion as the original Draconis Combine Jenner was first fielded in September 2784, the same year the Exodus fleet left the Inner Sphere in November.[4] Spawning numerous theories among Inner Sphere observers as to its origins, including that the so-called Minnesota Tribe were in-fact a Nova Cat recon mission,[5] the truth was isorla Jenners returned during Wolf's Dragoons' second supply run inspired the vision driven Nova Cats to claim it as their own and enhance it's abilities.[6]

Though the original version is used by a number of Clans, the Nova Cats would field a number of Jenner IIC variants as well as continue its development after their Abjurement, with considerable resources spent to bring new production online at their Irece Alpha facility of visually refreshed versions of the original and the newer 4 model to help fill out their rebuilding touman.[5] Ultimately the 'Mech would outlast the Clan who designed it, with the Combine allowing Clan Sea Fox to acquire the surviving Irece lines and openly sell the 'Mech to all parties, of which Clan Wolf was the largest buyer in the years leading up the ilClan era.[6]

Weapons and Equipment

Taking the original Jenner concept to the extreme, this fast striker mounts a center torso Pattern C4 Streak SRM-4 and a Pattern J7 SRM-6 launcher in each arm, carrying a ton of reloads for each missile rack. Though vulnerable to opponents who mount an Anti-Missile System and leaving it heavily dependent upon supply lines, the hail of missiles the Jenner IIC can unleash makes it ideal to clear out scouts and other light threats such as Combat Vehicles early in a battle. To achieve this, the Jenner IIC uses an 315-rated XL Engine, Endo Steel structure, and mounts only three and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. It also carries enough jump jets to leap up to 210 meters at a time.[4] [5] [6]

Variants

  • Jenner IIC 2
This support variant replaces the short-range missile launchers with an ER Large Laser and an LRM-5. A Small Pulse Laser provides defense against conventional infantry and other units that stray too close. Its jumping capacity is increased to 270 meters.[4][5][6] BV (1.0) = 1,330[7], BV (2.0) = 1,406[8][9]
  • Jenner IIC 4
Developed as much to modernize both its visual appearance and abilities as well as show they retained some strength in the wake their Abjurment, the 4 model retains the Streak SRM-4, but replaced the standard SRM launchers with a pair of CC 3-rack ATM 3s, each of which is accompanied by a ton of ammunition.[5] BV (1.0) = 1,030, BV (2.0) = 1,052[12]
  • Jenner IIC 5
Debuted right before their Annihilation and only seeing production by Clan Sea Fox, this variant uses a standard Jenner IIC chassis, armor, and movement profile. The weaponry has been replaced so it's more like the weapons of a standard Jenner. Each arm carries a pair of Improved Medium Heavy Lasers protected by CASE. The center torso carries an SRM-6. The right torso carries one ton of SRM ammo. To enhance its scouting ability, a Light Active Probe is mounted in the left torso. BV (2.0) = 1,440[6] [13]

From MechWarrior Online:

  • Jenner IIC-A
A short-ranged energy boat, the A variant carries three Small Pulse Lasers in both the right and left arm, with two extra double heat sinks to keep up a sustained rate of fire.[14]
  • JR7-IIC-FY Fury
Reportedly piloted by Zane Nova Cat, the Jenner IIC Hero 'Mech mounts a Heavy Machine Gun and twin standard Machine Guns in each arm fed by five tons of Machine Gun rounds and three tons of Heavy Machine Gun ammunition, supported by a single center torso-mounted ER Medium Laser. Defensively the Fury trades speed for armor, mounting an 280 rated XL engine to carry four and half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor.[15]
