John Hayes was a member of the Black Widow Company, Wolf's Dragoons.[2]

History[edit]

He was a very competent MechWarrior in Wolf's Dragoons until he was charged with unauthorized looting by his commander and after that was assigned to the Black Widow Company, where Natasha Kerensky controlled him with a combination of fees for theft and bonus for gallantry in combat.[2]

He joined the Black Widow Company after New Delos and participated in all its actions until 3025.[3]

In the Battle for Dromini VI a DropShip Pilot mistakenly launched Hayes with an incorrect angle during the drop assault resulting in heavy damage to his BattleMech. Natasha Kerensky prevented Hayes from killing the Pilot by confiscating all the pilot's wealth and giving it to Haynes, then demoting the Pilot to Third Assistant Cook aboard a family transport.[2]

He fought with the rest of the Dragoons on Misery, Glenmora, and Crossing.[4]

BattleMech[edit]

He piloted a Griffin. Following the rough landing on Dromini VI it was limited to 90 meters of jumping, and produced twice as much heat as normal. Its PPC was also prone to hangfires.[5]
