'Mech Works Defense[edit]
BRIEFING[edit]
Defend the Fafnir prototypes and Defiance research facilities against Davion guerrilla forces. Intelligence anticipates mixed air and ground units with Assault 'Mech support. The proving grounds are a relatively remote site. Expect no reinforcements in the short term.
Castle: Katrina Steiner is drawing a line in the sand for us on Hesperus. Victor has sent his own troops to finish off what the Skye separatists began. If we take this mission, we'll be throwing in with Katrina for the rest of the Civil War.
DURING MISSION[edit]
Warbler: It's good to have you on board, Spectre. All indicators point to Davion making an assault in force in the next few hours. I'll keep my lance on the northern side of the perimeter. You folks take the south. We'll field the east and west as targets present themselves.
Spectre: Copy that, Warbler. We have the south covered.
Castle: SatCom shows three lances moving on the proving grounds. Imminent contact!
BullsEye: Contact! 900 meters!
Spectre: Warbler, we have these three covered.
Spectre: Davion Assault Lance destroyed. Did anyone catch their markings? Who are these guys?
Castle: Intel indicates the Fourth Davion Heavy Guards.
Spectre: We'll be earning our pay today.
Warbler: We still have a lance pushing in from the east.
Warbler: Anybody covering those Davions to the west?
Castle: SatCom shows two Hrothgar DropShips coming out of orbit towards your position. This might be more than we can handle, sir.
Spectre: Do we have good tracking on the DropShips, Castle?
Castle: Yes, sir, but…
Spectre: Good. Give me a Nav Point for their landing zone. Warbler, hold the fort! I'm taking my lances out to hit those DropShips before they can unload the rest of the Guards.
Warbler: Spectre, you pull this off and I'll see to it you're made the richest mercenary on Hesperus II.
Spectre: I can live with that.
Spectre: Contact with two Davion DropShips. Looks like they hot-dropped some Heavies as a screening force. Concentrate fire on the DropShip engines.
Castle: Confirmed kill on Davion DropShip.
Castle: Both DropShips destroyed. Remaining Davion forces in full flight.

Castle: That was a close one, sir. We drove Victor's guerrillas off and kept the proving grounds and Fafnirs safe. It's nice to see that Defiance Industries knows how to treat the hired help. That Fafnir they gifted us isn't even for sale on the market yet. Pretty strong 'Mech, from the looks of it.
