Description
Introduced in 3148, the Vandal is a Heavy Class OmniMech produced by the Capellan Confederation in mid-32nd Century. Its development virtually unknown to outside powers, it would surprise FedSun forces when it appeared on Spica in 3144 during the House Liao's invasion of the Federation Suns. The Vandal is designed to be a speedy & tough combat unit, while it also meant to work as a team player in combat. Found in virtually all of its original Omni Pod configurations, the 'Mech would feature the usage of Boosted C3 communication systems.
The 'Mech would see deployment with Confederation allies which includes Magistracy of Canopus.[3]
Armament and Capacities
The OmniMech is known for its high speed, this is due in part of a fixed Supercharger which bolsters 'Mech normal 86 to 108 kph. Designed carry healthy amount of weapons and equipment for Inner Sphere design, the Vandal is has maximum Pod capacity of 26.5 tons. Conventional standard armor protects the 'Mech, however to addition to its 12.5 tons armor the 'Mech also has CASE II mounted in its right torso as well. Vandal also features a Torso-Mounted Cockpit, while providing additional protection for its pilot, it also makes ejects from the 'Mech difficult should 'Mech face certain destruction.
The 'Mech's Primary Configuration weaponry includes a Class 5 Rotary Autocannon & ER Small Laser found in the right arm. In its left, is a single Large Variable Speed Pulse Laser. The Autocannon two tons of ammunition is found in its right torso with CASE II. The Prime uses some advance electronics to give it an advantage on the battlefield. These advantages would include a Boosted C3 Slave to increase its accuracy in combat, while a Angel ECM Suite gives the 'Mech some considerable electronic warfare capacities.[4]
Alternated Configurations
- A Config. - The A is intended to serve as the command vehicle of a Boosted C3 lance. Aside from being equipped with a Boosted C3 Master, the 'Mech main weapon is a Heavy PPC which is connected to a PPC Capacitor found in the left arm. Its secondary weapon is a 4-tubed Short-Range Missile launcher with single ton of ammunition in the right torso. A single Laser Anti-Missile System is placed in the 'Mech right arm; while an additional Double Heat Sink and four Jump Jets rounds out 'Mechs equipment. BV(2.0)=1,865[5][6]
- B Config. - Designed for close-in combat, the B Configuration features number of close-range weaponry and equipment. Its ranged weaponry includes a Snub-Nose PPC in the left arm and while a 5-tubed Multi-Missile Launcher with its 3 tons of ammo is in the CASE II protected right torso. For close-in combat, the 'Mech uses its ER Flamer and a Medium Vibroblade found in its right arm. The B also features a Boosted C3 Slave Unit, an Angel ECM, TAG, Targeting Computer, and also a rear-mounted Mine Dispenser. BV(2.0)=1,666[7][8]
