History[edit]
Star League Era[edit]
The Eleventh Avalon Hussars and its sister regiment, the Twelfth Avalon Hussars, were both technically light horse regiments rather than hussar regiments during the Star League era. Equipped with lighter BattleMechs and augmented by a conventional aircraft detachment, the Eleventh was a skilled reconnaissance formation.[1]
Fourth Succession War[edit]
During the Fourth Succession War, the 11th Avalon Hussars were stationed on Kesai IV, protecting that world from attack.[2]
War of 3039[edit]
During the War of 3039, the 11th Avalon Hussars were stationed on Kesai IV.[3]
Clan Invasion[edit]
In 3050 the 11th Avalon Hussars were stationed on Kesai IV.[4]
Civil War[edit]
The homeworld of the 11th Avalon Hussars was Brockway. During the FedCom Civil War they fought for Katherine Steiner-Davion. In late 3062 and early 3063, they fought against the Lexington Combat Group on Brockway, suffering heavy losses. The 11th Hussars outnumbered the Lexington Combat Group, but the LCG used their superior maneuverability to keep the 11th off-balance.[5] After losing approximately 50% of their forces (and inflicting similar losses on the Lexington Combat Group) the 11th retreated to Ridgebrook.[6] They remained on Ridgebrook until 3065, when the 11th Avalon Hussars, Ridgebrook CMM and the 4th Donegal Guards attacked New Syrtis. In an attempt to win the war quickly, the 11th's battle armor unit tried to destroy the defender's headquarters. This attack failed, and shortly after this the 11th's headquarters was destroyed in an attack by the 8th Syrtis Fusiliers and the Vanguard Legion.[7] After losing command cohesion, the 11th as a unit pretty much ceased to exist. The surviving 11th Hussars were attached to the 4th Donegal Guards and they held the Kathil CMM in place while the 4th Donegal attacked the militia unit from both sides. This attack heavily damaged the CMM, but also destroyed the 11th Hussars. The individual survivors were integrated into the 4th Donegal Guards.[8] Due to their heavy losses and support of Katherine, the 11th Avalon Hussars RCT was deactivated after the FedCom Civil War.[9]

Tactics[edit]
Star League[edit]
During the Star League era all of the Avalon Hussars were required to focus on being both flexible and mobile, with every regiment required to be capable of deploying within eight hours, although many of the Hussars struggled to actually achieve this. The Eleventh was supported by an aerospace wing, although the wing was primarily attached to the Eleventh to provide ground support.[1]
FedCom Civil War[edit]
The 11th had three battalions of light and medium BattleMechs, supported by a fourth battalion of heavy and assault designs. Typically the first three battalions would engage in lightning strikes, drawing enemy forces toward the fourth battalion who would use their massive firepower to smash enemy forces.[12]

After facing the Lexington Combat Group, the Eleventh Avalon Hussars had lost anywhere between 30 and 50% of their force.[20]
Rules[edit]
Reunification War[edit]
- During Reunification War scenarios, the Avalon Hussars may employ the following tactics. When attacking, they can either reduce the number of enemy hidden units by 50% or may deploy 50% of their forces in the first half of the map representing the Hussars starting (home) edge. When the defender, they can either put 25% of their units as hidden units anywhere on their half of the board, or they may deploy twice the normal number of conventional minefields AND if using artillery they can predesignate twice as many hexes as normal. The controlling player must choose which ability will be used BEFORE choosing any combat units.[21]
First Succession War[edit]
- Between 2786 and 2807, the composition of randomly generated lances from the Eleventh Avalon Hussars are determined using a single roll on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, with all of the lance 'Mechs being the resulting type. Between 2808 and 2819, the lance composition is determined using two rolls on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, and from 2820 lance composition is determined using one roll per 'Mech per lance.[22]
- When generating Eleventh Avalon Hussars forces using Random Unit Assignment Tables during the First Succession War, the Eleventh Avalon Hussars receive a +4 modifier to each roll on the appropriate table.[23]
