The Taurian Defense Force's III Corps is primarily assigned to defend the approaches to the Hyades Cluster from both the Federated Suns and Capellan Confederation.

History

Prior to the Reunification War III Corps consisted of five regiments of the Pleiades Hussars. During that conflict the SLDF inflicted heavy losses on the Hussars, leaving only enough survivors to create a single regiment of Hussars. The Hussars gradually rebuilt, eventually spawning the Pleiades Lancers in the 2620s. Shortly thereafter the two units were deployed to support newly colonized areas between the Hyades Cluster and the Badlands Cluster. These front line forces sponsored and trained three new regiments, which were designated the Perdition Guards regiments.[1]

III Corps only consisted of two regiments in 3067.[2] The III Corps units were strong supporters of Protector Grover Shraplen. Their position in the Pleiades Cluster made some units difficult to resupply.[3]

The III Corps came through Operation MATADOR in relatively good shape. By 3145 they were stationed on several former Federated Suns worlds.[4]
