Mararn is a desert world, scorched by high temperatures and lacking significant water resources. Inhabitants are spread across the planet in small communities. Most water is imported from the nearby planet of Gillingham.[citation needed]

The central government of Mararn is weak, allowing the Citizens for Davion Purity to gain a foothold on the planet during the days of the Federated Commonwealth.[citation needed]
