Description
Designed for fast recon and close-quarters combat, the Night Stalker is a medium class BattleMech first produced during the mid-thirty-second century"thirty-second century" contains an extrinsic dash or other characters that are invalid for a date interpretation.. The first original BattleMech produced by Victory Conditions Industries on Mizar, the Night Stalker was first unveiled in the arenas of Solaris VII, where it would gather a reputation that propelled the company’s sales to success. The design would soon see service with the Federated Suns, the Lyran Commonwealth, Mercenary units, and among all the nation states of the Inner Sphere.[3]
Weapons and Equipment
One of the most notable attributes of the Night Stalker is its speed. Powered by its 320-Rated Extra-Light Engine, the small 40 ton design can quickly close distance between it and its objective. In its role as a recon and pursuit 'Mech, the Night Stalker is fitted with a Beagle Active Probe to find hidden units. Other design features include a Torso-Mounted Cockpit and TAG - the latter of which can be used to call in artillery support. Protecting the 'Mech's hull are 6.5 tons of Paulina Ferro-Fibrous Armor.
The Night Stalker's arsenal is meant for intermediate and close-in fighting, with a pair of right arm-mounted Aggressor Extended Range Medium Lasers and a 6-tubed SRM Launcher in the left torso. Upon entering close range, the 'Mech can bring its Extended Range Small Laser and Small Pulse Laser to bear on a potential target. In combination with the Night Stalker's speed, a MechWarrior can use its unusually-shaped left arm-mounted Lance to pierce an enemy vehicle's armor.[4]
Variants
- NSR-K1
- Slightly differing from the base model, the K1 variant drops the base K3's array of small lasers for an additional ER Medium Laser, and upgrades the 6-tubed SRM to a Streak version. BV(2.0)=1,149[5][6]
- NSR-K4
- Similar to the K1, this variant drops base model's small lasers for two additional ER Medium Lasers, and swaps the SRM launcher for a 4-tubed SRM Launcher with CASE protecting the 1 ton ammunition bin. BV(2.0)=1,159[7][8]
- NSR-K7
- Designed as a close-range fighter, this variant became popular in the arenas of Solaris VII prior to that world falling into Clan Wolf control. While retaining the Lance and ER Small Laser of the K3 model, the K7 gains three Small Re-Engineered Lasers and a Chain Whip in place of the remaining original armament. BV(2.0)=844[9][10]
Notes
The Night Stalker was originally conceived by Wizkids for its MechWarrior Dark Age Collectable Miniatures game as a part of its Annihilation expansion set. The figure would be used as both a general and unique 'Mech in the CGC game. The Night Stalker would later be adapted by Catalyst Game Labs and redefined in the tabletop game once the company advanced the franchise's timeline to 3145.
