Sackville
Planetary History
Star League
Sackville was often the targeted by Periphery pirates as they made their way toward slightly richer Abbey District worlds in the Free Worlds League. The Star League Defense Force garrison on world suffered the most causalities in the district protected be the XII Corps in the final years of the Star League.[24]
Anton Marik's Revolt
During Anton Marik's Revolt in 3014, the world of Sackville declared their support for Janos Marik. However, the mining colonies on Sackville's moons declared their support for Anton Marik. With no federal troops in the system, the mining colonies used their mass accelerators, normally used to propel refined metals into orbit, as weapons to drive ground-car sized metallic meteorites into the planet's cities. This continued for weeks until the Free Worlds League Navy was able to spare DropShips and marines to deal with the rebel moons.[25]
Jihad
Left independent in the wake of the dissolution of the Free Worlds League on 28 January 3079, Sackville was soon under pressure from external forces. While the Principality of Regulus destroyed the heart of the Circinus Federation with nuclear fire, survivors from the numerous pirates in the region plagued nearby worlds, and Sackville was one of their targets. One particular band, known as Lincoln's Rotting Corpse, raided Sackville so frequently in 3082 that the government was left desperately calling for help while betting houses on the planet took bets on when the raiders would arrive again.[26]
The nearby Duchy of Tamarind declined to assist Sackville, feeling that the world had nothing to offer the Duchy. However, help came from an unexpected source, when Colonel Yoshio Kawamura led a combined-arms force from the First Marik Protectors - the former Tenth Marik Militia - to hunt the pirates. Accurately predicting a strike against the warehouses in the city of Tighfield, Kawamura established and executed a hugely successful ambush. Kawamura's tactics were so successful that many of the pirates were killed, the Protectors captured a Mule-class pirate DropShip, leading the other pirate DropShips to abandon those on the ground, and as the surviving pirates went to ground a grateful planetary government declared Kawamura an honorary citizen and paid the Protectors a hefty enough bonus for them to expand their ranks with a new company of hovertanks.[26]
Dark Age
In August 3150, elements of the Marian Hegemony's II Legio raided Sackville as well as the nearby Merton. The raiders successfully captured ample supplies.[27][28]
