Cerillos II - more commonly known simply as Cerillos - is the second planet in the system and has a single moon named Blanca.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Cerillos is one of the so-called "Southwestern Worlds", an association of three worlds in the Free Worlds League. These worlds have a unique culture descended from North American Indian and Hispanic peoples. To many outside observers, these insular and hardworking people appear quite chauvinistic, with an emphasis on machismo that is rarely encountered on other worlds. These same inhabitants place a high premium on personal honor and strength, which reinforces the stereotypes.[1]

Cerillos' location on the outer edge of League space and its mostly agrarian economy means that there isn't a great deal of money on the world. As a result, one of Cerillos' prime exports is soldiers. Joining the FWLM or a mercenary unit is an excellent way for a young Cerillosian to see the universe. The military units they join have also learned that when handled properly, Cerillosians are aggressive, skilled, and tough fighters. Camacho's Caballeros is the archetypical Cerillosian unit.[1]

When Cerillos and the other two Southwest Trinity worlds were first settled, they had originally formed a bandit kingdom known as the Intendancy of New New Spain. When the Free Worlds League conquered and then absorbed the three cantankerous worlds, it was considered a major coup by the long-suffering neighboring worlds, and went a long way towards influencing those worlds to view the Free Worlds League favorably.[32]
