Formation[edit]

The VIII Triarii Protectors (also known as the Eighth Triarii), are the garrison unit for Prefecture VIII. In 3085 the unit was stationed to Denebola in an effort to run down any Word of Blake holdouts who might be hiding on the world.[3]

When the order to execute Fortress Republic was issued, the Eighth refused to return. Instead they chose to remain on Suzano. After Fortress Republic was executed, the VIII Triarii Protectors remained on Suzano until 3143 when it became clear the Capellan Confederation was determined to take the system. Colonel Oisín Fegan dug in his forces around the planetary capital of Focci's Point, forming a wall of 'Mechs and armor in front of artillery batteries. The 103rd's Star Colonel Maurice Radick realized that his Cluster would not win in a long-distance duel against artillery and ordered a trinary of Linebackers under Star Captain Rhea to reconfigure for close assault and strike the Triarii's flank, relying on their speed to avoid being targeted by the artillery. Breaching the artillery park, the Linebackers silenced the guns and struck the Protectors from the rear as the rest of the 103rd launched a frontal assault.
