XXVII Corps (or the Twenty-Seventh Corps) was one of the seventy-two Corps that made up the Star League Defense Force. XXVII Corps was one of the larger Corps; prior to the collapse of the Star League it consisted of six divisions, five independent regiments and an independent aero wing. [1]

In 2764 XXVII Corps was part of the 11th Army, assigned to District 1 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region. This region was relatively calm and stable, but the subordinate commands of the XXVII Corps were often used as reinforcements for active conflicts. These redeployments, along with participation in extensive training exercises like Operation KOBALD, allowed the Twenty-seventh Corps units to retain their high skill levels.[2]
When the simmering violence and rebellion building in the Periphery erupted with the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery-wide uprising in 2765 XXVII Corps was deployed into Districts 2 and 3 of the LCMR, along with the rest of the 11th Army, to backfill for units deployed into the Periphery Military Region.[1]
