History[edit]

The Thirty-second Recon Regiment was originally an SLDF unit raised in 2765 for special operations. It took part in the assault of Terra and in 2780 was assigned to the 312th Battle Brigade. In 2784 its commanding officer General Gael led the Regiment to Bryant and its new life as mercenaries.[1] Lieutenant General Lochan Gael was killed during the fall of Bryant in the First Succession War.[1]

Speculation also exists that the new mercenary unit was originally the 167th Light Horse Regiment however this remains unconfirmed.[2]

Their name is also their mission, specialized in recon, raiding and harassing tasks. The unit formed the original command element of the entire Lexington Combat Group and as a result LCG's independent command Battalion is always attached to the Thirty-second separated.[1]

The Thirty-second spent much of the early thirty-first century engaged in the Capellan March and acquired a great deal of experience dealing with cross-border raids. In 3038 they were stationed on Lindsay later moving to Hyaite at the start of the War of '39.[3] By 3054 the Regiment had returned to Lindsay.[4] During the FedCom Civil War the Thirty-second saw action first on the world of Brockway and then on Panpour.[1] Colonel Irina Gant died on Panpour in February 3065.

In Operation SOVEREIGN JUSTICE the Thirty-second was moved from Midale to Flintoft. Though this would have allowed them to respond to a TDF incursion on New Syrtis or the Pleiades Cluster, the real problem was that the CCAF raided Ridgebrook. The First McCarron's Armored Cavalry and Prefectorate Guard landed on Ridgebrook, and the Thirty-second moved to respond. Unfortunately the CCAF strike was a feint, and the Thirty-second was stranded at Ridgebrook while New Syrtis was raided.[5]

Tactics[edit]

The unit prefers terrain with the maximum of cover and uses its electronic warfare equipment for ambushes and assaults. The 2476th Tactical Fighter Wing trains in ground support and precision strikes.
