Defiance Motors was a division of Defiance Industries.
Overview[edit]
Defiance Motors was created in 2995 when Defiance Industries ran into problems getting the engines they needed for their products. Construction of a site on Tharkad's Tatyana Island chain began with an expected completion around 3003, but the progress would be halted a year early when they discovered a facility design flaw. As there were not enough qualified engineers and technicians at the time to create a new design, Defiance Motors would end up waiting until around 3026 to resume completion of the factory, which put on hold many projects such as Defiance Industries' expansion into combat vehicle production with the Rommel and Patton tanks.[1]
During the Jihad, the Tharkad facility was heavily damaged and many of its employees were killed in the fighting. The losses were estimated to reach 80%. As of 3079, the factory was only running at 40% of its pre-Jihad output. The losses at the facility had also greatly hampered production at the company's remaining sites, as Defiance Motors was a key supplier of engines for the facilities on Hesperus II and Furillo.[3] The factory on Gibbs may have been destroyed or purchased by one of the neighboring industries as it isn't listed as being active in 3079.[4]
