Signus Wainright was a Republic of the Sphere-based author of non-fiction. He was known for his books about threats to the Republic.[1]

Wainright found great success with his first two e-books. Both bestsellers, Dragon's Blade: The Kurita Threat and Prefect Tormark and Sword in the Stone: Lord Governor Sandoval's Links to House Davion, cemented his name among the public, with some of his predictions borne out by the respective actions of the Dragon's Fury and Swordsworn. Each book faced some skepticism at launch.[1][2]
Wainright's third book, 3135's Dominion Over All: The Rise of the New Ghost Bear Threat, was about a theoretical Rasalhague Dominion conspiracy to attack the Republic. It again faced skepticism. Cintus Domingo of the New Wessex Times found the sourcing thinner and conclusions shakier, and Knight Deandra Lowe privately judged that the book only had "enough real evidence to fill a single footnote."[1][3] When challenged by interviewer Anna Crennov, Wainright pointed to the successful predictions of his first two books and the Dominion's lack of response to Dominion.[2]
Despite doubts, Dominion Over All found quick success. It garnered a semi-fictionalized holovid adaptation, directed by the successful Alphonse Knightly, with a novelization itself written by Wainright.[4]
He later published a further book before June 3138, after he was trapped outside of Fortress Republic, much to his chagrin. This book, known in the Lyran Commonwealth and read by notables such as Trillian Steiner, dealt with theories regarding the reasons for Fortress Republic. It included speculation that Devlin Stone was a Blakist, and that Fortress Republic might be the Word of Blake's final victory, including a retaking of Terra.[5]

- Dark Age: 3135 PDA Journals is inconsistent about when the holovid Dominion Over All was filmed and released. The holovid was released prior to 1 February 3135,[6] filming began on 15 February 3135,[4] and the project was still a rumor by 3 March 3135.[2]
- Throughout 3135 PDA Journals, two spellings are used for Signus's surname: Wainright and Wainwright. The Last Charge uses Wainright.
