Vega Province

Vega Province comprised the rimward territory of the Rasalhague Dominion.

History[edit]

Formed as the Vega Protectorate in 3136, the province was originally an independent state centered on Vega that arose after the Republic of the Sphere's Prefecture I collapsed into chaos after the Blackout. As the proto-state had been founded in part by Ghost Bear warriors the Vega Protectorate established ties with the Rasalhague Dominion, and in 3144 it was absorbed into the Dominion as a semi-autonomous province. However, between being a dumping ground for Freeminders and its native population having longstanding ties to the Republic or the Draconis Combine, the Vega Province had the least loyalty of any of the Dominion's regions to the national government on Rasalhague.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

In mid-3151 when the Dominion voted on whether to join the new Star League established by ilKhan Alaric Ward, both Vega and the province as a whole skewed towards the Denier camp. When the Joiners barely won only for ilKhan Ward to reject the Dominion's membership of the Star League, Vega Province exploded into violence.[6] [7] [5]
