Captain Daniel Umsont was a MechWarrior and officer, serving in the Seventy-first Light Horse Regiment of the Eridani Light Horse, during the second half of the thirty-first century.[1]

Early Career[edit]
Umsont joined the Eridani Light Horse in 3051, becoming Colonel Sandra Barclay's adjutant and executive officer in 3057.[2] He was considered to be a handsome and black-skinned man.[1][2]
Battle of Coventry[edit]
In 3058 while still serving as Colonel Barclay's executive officer, Umsont served as part of the Coventry Expeditionary Force, and fought against Clan Jade Falcon in the Battle of Coventry.[1] During this campaign, Umsont helped to defend the town of Lietnerton on Coventry on 9 May, fighting against elements of the 305th Assault Cluster.[3]
Colonel Barclay, who in later years had nightmares about this battle, by 3060 while in the Clan Homeworlds dreamt that Umsont had died on Coventry to an A-Pod mounted on a Falcon Man O' War which had downed his 'Mech. This however was a false addition to the event added by her trauma, the swift destruction of the Clan 'Mech in reality, being warped in her imagination into the annihilation of Barclay's entire command company. This transference is notable as the pilot of the Man O' War, Star Commander Kraig, was her bondsman for a week until 16 June when hegira resulted in an exchange of prisoners.[1][4][5]
Task Force Serpent[edit]
In 3059, having survived Coventry, Umsont participated in the training on the Federated Commonwealth world of Defiance with the 71st Light Horse Regiment as part of the preparation of Task Force Serpent before their mission to the Clan Homeworlds to attack Clan Smoke Jaguar.[2]
BattleMech[edit]
Daniel Umsont was known to have piloted a WHM-7M Warhammer BattleMech.[1][3]
