Description
The Demon was originally created by the SLDF as its standard fighting vehicle in 2716. This vehicle was used in ambush attacks using its powerful gauss rifle. Its disadvanges are mainly its lack of speed which makes it vunerable to speedy Battlemechs and other vehicles.
After the fall the Star League the vehicle fell from production and was lost in Succession Wars. However, the factory on Terra, was re-opened and the vehicle saw new life in service in Comstar's ComGuard and later with Word of Blake's Militia after planet's capture in 3058.
When the Word of Blake Protectorate was formed, worlds joining the Protectorate were gifted Level III of these vehicles.
A smaller successor to the vehicle was created after the formation of the Republic of the Sphere known as the Demon Medium Tank.
Armament
The main weapon is turreted mounted the M-7 Gauss Rifle with two tons of ammunition in main body's ammunition bin that protected with CASE. The vehicle has two Intek Medium Lasers, with single laser mounted left and right arches. The field mounts a six tube Short Range Missile launcher with two tons of ammunition that also in main body with CASE protection.
Variants
- Horned Demon - (Star League variant): This variant replaces short range missile launcher for and CASE for pair forward-firing medium lasers and two extra heat sinks. Side firing medium lasers are fitted forward arch. However, this leaves the vehicle other flanks unarmed with exception of the turret Gauss Rifle. It noted it was rarely deployed accept for defensive positions.
- Second Horned Demon - (Star League variant): Also known as Demon PPC variant, this vehicle was created to make supply-independant version of the tank. The vehicle trades all its weapons for two Particle Projector Cannons. This variant was better than first, but was not well favored and regulated to Hegemony's militia.
- Heavy Gauss Rifle Demon - (Word of Blake variant): First spotted in 3069, this Demon tank is lacks the turreted gauss rifle and trade it for forward mounted Heavy Gauss Rifle with two tons of ammunition, other weapons of the vehicle are upgraded. Lasers are upgraded to Extended Range and missile launcher traded for the Streak version.
