History

The Fox-class corvette Intrepid was in service with the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth in 3062[1] and remained a part of the Federated Suns black water navy throughout the FedCom Civil War. The Intrepid was one of twelve Fox-class WarShips to remain in service with the AFFS after the devastation of the Civil War[2] having served as the command ship of Field Marshal Ardan Sortek during the war.[3] The Intrepid also fought in the climatic battle at New Avalon on the 8th of November 3066; operating alongside three Allied sister ships[4] - the FCS Admiral Corinne Donnings, FCS Kentares and FCS Robinson[5] - and the Avalon-class cruiser FCS Melissa Davion[4] - the Intrepid faced two Loyalist Avalons, the Alexander Davion and the Lucien Davion,[4] as well as a pair of Foxes, the FCS Antrim[5] and FCS Murmansk.[4] The resulting battle saw the Intrepid disabled and the Admiral Corinne Donnings destroyed in the early stages; the Kentares then maneuvered itself into close proximity with the Alexander Davion and executed a tactic that shocked both forces - the Kentares activated her K-F Drive, destroying both ships.[5] The Kentares and the Alexander Davion were the last ships to be destroyed in the battle, as the Lucien Davion surrendered after taking heavy damage and the Murmansk executed a jump from a pirate point, vanishing without trace.[4]

The FSS Intrepid was in the Galax system in April 3069 when the Word of Blake launched an assault on both the planet and the Federated-Boeing Interstellar shipyards above the planet. The Intrepid formed part of a desperate defense of the shipyards, but was destroyed by the superior numbers and firepower Blakist task force.[6] Also apparently destroyed during the defense of Galax was a sister ship to the Intrepid, the FCS Fox.[7]
