Description[edit]

The Peregrine-class corvette was the product of pride as much as necessity for Clan Jade Falcon, and was strongly influenced by the pragmatic streak that ran through the Clan at that time. The result was a ship that was both easy prey for aggressors, and not a threat to prepared and well-equipped defenders. Peregrines were commonly used for exploring new systems, or for serving as the center of a small task force.[1] Only a few of these were built during the Clans' Golden Age,[4] and while the ships were mostly written off during the Golden Century, the class saw a new lease of life during the Jihad.[1]

One ship of the class, the Silver Merlin, had a reputation for aggressively hunting down members of the Dark Caste, often deploying on extended bandit-hunting missions. The Clans lost track of this ship after it departed on one such mission in 3045,[1] although at least one sighting of a Peregrine operating in the Deep Periphery was made by Interstellar Expeditions in the early 3070s.[4] While searching for remains of the Rim Worlds Republic in early 3071, a Clan Goliath Scorpion Seeker expedition reportedly encountered a Peregrine-class WarShip fielded by the Green Ghosts.[4][5] Sightings of a Peregrine operated by, or in the company of, the Green Ghosts would remain unconfirmed at least as late as 3150.[1]

Armament[edit]

The Peregrine mounted a pair of NAC/35s in the nose along with twenty rounds of ammunition to provide short-range punch. A pair of NL35s were mounted in the aft as well as in the fore-left and right arcs, giving the ship a moderate amount of firepower. Supporting the capital-class weaponry was a pair of ER Large Lasers in each arc. In common with other Clan WarShips, each Peregrine mounted an HPG.[1]
