History

Formation

Immediately prior to the FedCom Civil War the Royal New Capetown Training Battalion consisted of two companies of 'Mechs, with one each of armor and infantry. They were supported by an artillery company and an aerospace fighter squadron.[1]

FedCom Civil War

In the FedCom Civil War the Royal New Capetown Training Battalion was ordered to assault Coventry with the 11th Arcturan Guards. They landed and were quickly overwhelmed by elements of the 7th Crucis Lancers.[2]

After the Civil War ended, the training battalion returned to service on the Clan border. Several cadets volunteered to join active units on the border before they graduated.[3]

Jihad

During the Jihad the LAAF training battalions were required to give up much of their equipment to rebuild standing commands. As a result, in 3079 the unit was reduced to a company of 'Mechs.[4]

Officers

As of 3050 the commanding officer was Kommandant Margaret Ochs.[5]

From 3062 to 3067 the commanding officer was Kommandant Alfred Vaughn, he was promoted to the rank of an Colonel and held to command of the unit in 3085.[1][6][7]

Tactics

The aerospace squadron assigned to the Royal New Capetown Training Battalion specialized in ground support and bombing runs.[1]
