The XIX Corps (or Nineteenth Corps) was a corps of the Star League Defense Force. Prior to the collapse of the Star League it consisted of 6 divisions and 7 independent regiments.[1]

History

The Nineteenth Corps stationed five of its six divisions in the Federation of Oriente. Despite this, they were ordered to stand down in 2729 to allow civil war to rage unchecked through the Free Worlds League. The citizens of Oriente remembered this, and made their scorn for the SLDF troops known. Despite this the Nineteenth took its responsibilities to defend the Federation and Free Worlds League from Capellan adventurism and bandit units. The largest problem facing the Corps is their lack of logistical support. All of the Eighth Army had this problem, and the Nineteenth's supply officer looked into contracting with military suppliers in the Capellan Confederation's Sarna or Liao Commonalities to make up the difference. Both the Regular Army Command and Quartermaster Command were worried that this might trigger a confrontation between the Free Worlds League and the Capellan Confederation, leading the Nineteenth to cause the problem it was supposed to prevent.[2]

In 2764 the Nineteenth Corps was part of the 8th Army, assigned to the First District of the Free Worlds League Military Region. However, in 2765 an uprising occurred in the Periphery, requiring a large portion of the SLDF mobilized to put down the rebellion. The Nineteenth's units were moved into the Second District, filling in gaps left by other units sent to the fighting. However, the uprising had all been an elaborate plot by Stefan Amaris to accomplish his conquest of the Terran Hegemony.

The Nineteenth would take part in Aleksandr Kerensky's campaign to reconquer the Terran Hegemony from Amaris, but was nearly destroyed in the fighting. Only one unit, the 131st, would survive to take part in Kerensky's Operation Exodus.
