Cahokia was originally settled for the large amount of mineral resources available in the crust. Despite the tainted atmosphere, these minerals were so valuable that mining companies were willing to invest the capital needed to exploit the world. In 3079 most of the mining was handled by remotely operated MiningMechs.[1]
