Star League Era[edit]
The Eleventh Avalon Hussars and its sister regiment, the Twelfth Avalon Hussars, were both technically light horse regiments rather than hussar regiments during the Star League era. Equipped with lighter BattleMechs and augmented by a conventional aircraft detachment, the Eleventh was a skilled reconnaissance formation.[1]
Fourth Succession War[edit]
During the Fourth Succession War, the 11th Avalon Hussars were stationed on Kesai IV, protecting that world from attack.[2]

During the War of 3039, the 11th Avalon Hussars were stationed on Kesai IV.[3]

Civil War[edit]

Tactics[edit]
Star League[edit]
During the Star League era all of the Avalon Hussars were required to focus on being both flexible and mobile, with every regiment required to be capable of deploying within eight hours, although many of the Hussars struggled to actually achieve this. The Eleventh was supported by an aerospace wing, although the wing was primarily attached to the Eleventh to provide ground support.[1]
FedCom Civil War[edit]
The 11th had three battalions of light and medium BattleMechs, supported by a fourth battalion of heavy and assault designs. Typically the first three battalions would engage in lightning strikes, drawing enemy forces toward the fourth battalion who would use their massive firepower to smash enemy forces.[12]

After facing the Lexington Combat Group, the Eleventh Avalon Hussars had lost anywhere between 30 and 50% of their force.[20]
Rules[edit]
Reunification War[edit]
- During Reunification War scenarios, the Avalon Hussars may employ the following tactics. When attacking, they can either reduce the number of enemy hidden units by 50% or may deploy 50% of their forces in the first half of the map representing the Hussars starting (home) edge. When the defender, they can either put 25% of their units as hidden units anywhere on their half of the board, or they may deploy twice the normal number of conventional minefields AND if using artillery they can predesignate twice as many hexes as normal. The controlling player must choose which ability will be used BEFORE choosing any combat units.[21]
First Succession War[edit]
- Between 2786 and 2807, the composition of randomly generated lances from the Eleventh Avalon Hussars are determined using a single roll on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, with all of the lance 'Mechs being the resulting type. Between 2808 and 2819, the lance composition is determined using two rolls on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, and from 2820 lance composition is determined using one roll per 'Mech per lance.[22]
- When generating Eleventh Avalon Hussars forces using Random Unit Assignment Tables during the First Succession War, the Eleventh Avalon Hussars receive a +4 modifier to each roll on the appropriate table.[23]
