Planetary History

First Succession War

Acrux was the target of a two-pronged invasion of the Free Worlds League by the Lyran Commonwealth in the First Succession War; Captain-General Thaddeus Marik was concerned enough with the prospect of Acrux being captured - Acrux being an important industrial world at the time - that in 2811 he attempted to launch a counter-invasion to block the Lyran campaign. Marik's first target was the world of Poulsbo, which at the time was the location of the crack Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces regiment known as The Stealths. The discovery of The Stealths' presence in the system was originally considered fortunate, as it gave the Free Worlds League Military an opportunity to exterminate a key Lyran unit, but despite their best efforts the FWLM only managed to destroy Lyran aerospace fighters, not any of the DropShips or JumpShips transporting The Stealths, and the losses suffered in turn were so heavy that the counterstrike had to be called off.[26]
