Candiear was a member of the Magistracy of Canopus when a Star League Defense Force task force under the command of Captain-General Marion Marik was assigned to conquer the Magistracy of Canopus in 2577. Candiear was targeted by the SLDF in 2585 following the capture of Canopus IV in 2584, and was conquered by more than a division of troops. The SLDF landed the VII Corps' Fifty-sixth Brigade, Sixty-first Royal Brigade and Sixty-second Royal brigade on Candiear along with the Fourth Marik Militia, Second Oriente Hussars and Third Regulan Hussars in support. The planetary garrison was a mixed brigade of MAF troops consisting of the Second and Fourth Canopian Light Horse and Buquoy's Bandits. The MAF troops contested the invasion but were forced to retreat.[5][6][36]

Candiear would be occupied by the SLDF for the remainder of the war; once the Reunification War ended, a number of Magistracy worlds were annexed by the Free Worlds League, but Candiear remained a part of the Magistracy.[5][7]
