System Description
The Gambier system is located near the Mansfield and Sturganos systems.[4] From the 2200s to the 2400s, the Gambier system was a stopover point for colony ships moving to other systems spinward from Terra. During this time period, recharge stations were built at the main jump points to ease the congestion of JumpShips that frequently traveled through the system.[1]
The facilities at Gambier became a vital link in the SLDF logistical chain during the Star League era once the surge of colony ships ended.[1]
System History
The Gambier system was colonized by the Terran Alliance during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra.[1] By the end of the Age of War, Gambier had been incorporated into the Federated Suns.[5]

Planetary History
The database of the (apocryphal) 1989 video game MechWarrior, set around the year 3025, gives a population of 2.145 billion for Gambier, which it misspells as "Gambler", and describes the environment as "tropical" (out of only three broad impressions of planetary environments given in the game, these being "desert", "ice", or "tropical"). The description one-liner reads "Entertainment world with some industry."
