History
Origins
The family's heritage is rooted in Africa on Terra and it was once known as Hayes, but changed its name when Jackson Hayes entered into the service of Coordinator Miyogi Kurita in the 2800s. Jackson Tetsuhara then settled on the world of Awano and made a great effort to live by the code of bushido.[1][2][3].
Succession Wars
Decades after Minobu's death, some of their children, including Kiyomasa Tetsuhara joined the Dragoons, while others stay behind with the Combine, dividing the clan into two branches.[4]
Dark Age
In the thirty-second century, Katana Tormark was heir of the Tetsuhara clan and joined first the Republic of the Sphere military to later defect and found the rogue group Dragon's Fury, and later the Combine Military. She piloted Katana Kat, the family hereditary Mech'. After her defeat in the Combine Civil War, the 'Mech was given to a distant member of the family, Orestes Tetsuhara, seeing action in the Federated Suns front and the battle of New Avalon.[4]
Tetsuhara's Dragoons branch, by their side, initially abandoned military life: Kiyomasa's son made career as businessman.[5] However, his daughter, Haya Tetsuhara made career as military, joining the Wolf Spiders' battalion, reaching the rank of captain. After the Battle of Terra (3151) and the Dragoons's personal war against the Wolf Empire she participated in two battles against the Wolves, after which she was promoted to major, being tasked with the resurrection of Zeta Battalion which she led, successfully, for months, without knowing defeat, not even in the Empire's capital world of Gienah.[6]

Tetsuhara family Katana
The head of the Tetsuhara clan inherits a Katana once gifted by Coordinator Miyogi Kurita to Jackson Hayes in 2865 for his faithful service. This legendary weapon, its 69cm blade still flawless even after the passing of almost three centuries, was also carried into battle by Minobu Tetsuhara, revered as having been one of the greatest samurai of his generation.[1]
BattleMechs
The family is in possession of the PNT-9R Panther Katana Kat, an heirloom 'Mech once piloted by Minobu Tetsuhara. During her campaign as leader of the Dragon's Fury, Katana Tormark loans the Panther to Brotherhood MechWarrior Abeda Measho.[7][8][9]
