Planetary History
Star League Era
Isfahan was on the Periphery border of the Coudoux Prefecture of the Pesht Military District, located close to New Ceylon and Schwartz.[3][4][6] Isfahan vanished from maps during the First Succession War, indicating that the system had either been abandoned, depopulated, or rendered too insignificant to merit further reporting on maps.[8]
Clan Invasion
In the late 3050s Isfahan was still an inhabited world, despite being too insignificant to merit recording on maps. An extremely poor world, Isfahan was used as a base of operations for the pirate band Corazon's Cossacks, commanded by Salander White. Mustering a company or more of Star League era BattleMechs, the Cossack's base was located on the outskirts of the city of Kerman, close to one of the major desert regions of Isfahan. The Cossacks' interaction with the locals was limited, although the local population lived in terror of White. The primary form of currency in use on Isfahan at the time was the "bit", with one bit being the equivalent of a grain of gold extracted from the local desert. A single Lyran kroner was worth approximately 3-4,000 bits by weight, but a slave could be purchased in the market in Kerwan for a few hundred bits - a testament to the low value of human life on the world. The markets of Kerwan included both domestically produced products, imports from other worlds and standard pirate fare including guns, knives, slaves and spare parts.[21]
The Cossacks were shattered in April 3059 when the mercenary unit known as the Hessian Horsemen tracked the Cossacks back to Isfahan and wiped them out in retaliation for the repeated raids conducted against the DCMS supply station on the nearby world of Durham. The DCMS was alerted to the battle on Isfahan, but the likelihood of the Combine installing any form of administration or garrison on the planet was very low.[21]
Once a year gold was gathered from the desert regions on Isfahan where continental plates met. Gathering the gold was a labor-intensive activity in which sand was washed with water to collect small flecks of gold.[21]
Planetary Locations
- Kerman: a major city on Isfahan - possibly the planetary capital city.[21]
