Planetary Info
Rondane was founded in the early 29th century by people fleeing the fall of the Empire of the Stars. The early settlers landed near forests at the world's equator and received aid from Agricorp, a large corporation in the Chainelane Isles. Several years later the citizens forced Agricorp off the world, which reduced their agricultural productivity. This was compounded by a severe drought. Later this time period was known as the "Famine Years". To feed their citizens, a group of senators on the world formed a syndicate that sent trade missions to nearby systems. After meeting representatives of the Helena Collective on Ingvolstand, Rondane secured a long-term agreement to receive food and water in exchange for livestock and exotic minerals. The syndicate officially took control of the world and brokered a mutual defense pact with the Helena Collective.
Rondane later began a "family building" project with the Helena Collective: Several dozen Rondanian males were sent to Ingolstand, matched up with "appropriate" females from the Collective, and spent the next ten years raising children together. After ten years, Rondanian men could return home. Selection for participation in this project was a high honor, and participants who returned were often fast-tracked to high government positions.
The Rondane Syndicate used several ciphers that the Clan Watch was unable to decrypt. This meant that the Rondanians used encryption that was in excess of Star League technology. In 3084, no one knew where this technology had come from.[27]
