Alex Nash was a Precentor in the First Division who spent years attached to the Fourth Free Worlds Legionnaires.[1]
History[edit]
Alex Nash comes from a long line of military members which has earned a reputation for piloting and tactical proficiency. His grandfather and father were both members of the Marik Militia, and his sister Colonel Virginia commands the Stewart Dragoons Home Guards. Given her command of that provincial force it is likely House Nash resides in the Stewart Commonality.[2]
Originally a member of the Free Worlds League Military, Nash served with the Fourth Legionnaires for an unknown number of years between the unit's founding in 3044 and 3055 when Nash joined the Word of Blake. Three years later, Nash was posing as a battalion commander in the Shadow Lancers for the invasion of Terra. Given his high rank at the time it is likely Nash served in the FWLM before his experience with the Legionnaires. His rank as Adept Epsilon-XIV during the 3058 actions on Terra confirms his membership in ComStar since at least his 3044 promotion to Adept, with an undeterminable number of years as an Acolyte prior to that. Due to this undercover work it is entirely possible Nash was actually a ROM infiltrator[1][3][4]
Regardless of his past experience or allegiance, since 3055 Nash was firmly aligned with the Word of Blake. As commander of Second Battalion of the Shadow Lancers Nash was in the thick of the fighting from the start of hostilities on 28 February. 3058. After Blakist aerospace fighters delivered a surprise fuel-air bomb to the command center of 201st Division IV-kappa at the Salina base defending North America, Nash's battalion was sent in to mop up any survivors. While a small force of ComGuard BattleMechs were able to escape west to supply depots in the Rockies, Nash's battalion managed to inflict nearly 50% losses before the ComGuards managed to breakout. Nash caught up with the 201st about 370km later, forcing Adept Epsilon-IV Edelle Kearny to turn and fight a rearguard action while the rest of the 201st continued their flight. Despite being outnumbered, Kearny managed a surprising victory and inflicted a serious injury to Nash.[3][4][1]
After recuperating, Nash was promoted to Precentor, and assigned as both the liaison officer to his old Legionnaire unit and commander of Fall of Night III-alpha which was attached as the Fourth's Fourth Battalion. He remained in command of Fall of Night until at least 3062. In 3065 Fall of Night would rejoin the First Division, with Word of Blake noting the Fourth Legionnaires were sufficiently compromised. At some point during the Jihad the Fourth would join the Word of Blake, an event that can be surmised Nash was instrumental in bringing about.[1][5][6]
