Hisao Ikeda was the Hikage commander and later Warlord of the Draconis Combine in the late Dark Age Era.
History[edit]
Hisao Ikeda was a DCMS officer, most likely a DEST or former DEST commando. He was choosen by Coordinator Yori Kurita to led a newly created unit, the Hikage, or shadow, a elite unit which she gave to Kanrei Matsuhari Toranaga in June 3148 to serve at the Federated Suns front. Ikeda was staunchly loyal to the Coordinator, but also respected Toranaga, which made him the ideal bridge between both leaders. However, his ultimate loyalty was to Yori, so he would have reported to her any disloyalty.[1]
Under Toranaga's orders, Ikeda led his unit in attacking Remagen in 3149 with great success, though failed to kill the Prince's Champion, Erik Sandoval-Groell, and was forced to retreat.[2]
A year later, after receiving a message from Northwind, which was under attack of Capellan forces, by his own initiative, he took the Hikage and the Fourth Dieron Regulars to assist their allies of the Unity Pact. However, mistrust and the actions of a Republic of the Sphere operative made him believe the Capellans have attacked him, so he landed his forces to engage the Capellan forces. The Battle of Northwind ended in a three-side battle between the RAF, Capellan and Combine frorces. After the planetary's functional HPG was destroyed, however, Ikeda ordered his forces to retreat. Ironically, the Capellan fears were wrong: Ikeda was only waiting the moment to deploy his forces.[3]
IlClan Era[edit]
In May 3151, he was sent with his unit to reinforce New Avalon, though it didn't arrive at time for the Operation DAWN. The next year he went with the Hikage to Greeley, instructing orders to the on site commander, Sho-sa Masashi Miura, but he delayed the Hikage deployment to avoid participating on the Battle of Greeley, finally aborting the descent. After Miura's death, he negotiated with Erik Sandoval-Groell, the retreat of all surviving Combine forces on the Dragon's Tongue and even a ceasefire with the Suns across the frontier.[4]
Once back on Combine space, Yori Kurita promoted him to Warlord of the New Samarkand Military District, a political move to appease the other Warlords, allowing him to retain the Hikage asw his personal command.[5]
