Planetary History

Outer Reaches Rebellion

Beginning with the world of Freedom, colony worlds of the Terran Alliance began to declare themselves independent of the Alliance in January 2236. Freedom originally declared itself independent in a form of peaceful protest against an unfair tax burden and restrictive, high-handed behaviour from Alliance planetary governors and administrators, but the immediate response from the Alliance Parliament was to begin deploying the Second Interstellar Combined Assault Force (Second ICAF) to bring Freedom back into line - a campaign that expanded in scope as other worlds, such as Morningside, Sevren and Summit swiftly declared their independence as well.[2]

The Alliance Second ICAF found itself in action on Izar before even reaching Freedom, but Summit was soon the target of military action as well. Deployed to retake Summit was the Twenty-third Alliance Striker Regiment under the command of General Seth Van Dome. Equipped with heavy laser cannon, the Twenty-third initiated a four-month holocaust on Summit that left more than ten thousand civilians dead before redeploying to Freedom to assist the Fourth Para-Cavalry Division in August.[2]
