History

Formation

The First Orloff Grenadiers is the oldest regiment in the formation. With so much history it often performs ceremonial duties and conducts "show the flag" tours, but is a highly skilled combat unit.[1]

In order to maintain their excellent public image, members of the First are constantly required to adhere to dress codes. Soldiers in the unit who wear the wrong uniform or a dirty one are subject to heavy fines. Should a soldier consistently fail to adhere to the dress codes, they can receive black marks on their records or even be cashiered from service.[1]

Andurien Secession

Operation Guerrero

In 3057, the First attacked Oliver in conjunction with the Twentieth Marik Militia, forcing the Third NAIS Cadre from the planet.[1] After that they engaged in several smaller anti-terrorist operations throughout the Duchy.[2]

Operation Bulldog

Jihad

The First Orloff Grenadiers weren't really in any serious fighting during the Jihad. They garrisoned Hassad and kept it safe from threat forces.[3]

After the Jihad, the Duchy of Orloff merged with the Grand Duchy of Oriente. The First Orloff Grenadiers were honored for their long service by being placed second in the Duchy's list of honor, after the Fusiliers of Oriente and above the Oriente Hussars. This has led to some grumbling from the Oriente Hussars, but the First Grenadiers expulsion of the 5th Regulan Hussars from Emris IV has silenced most critics.[4]

Officers

In 3025 the unit is commanded by Colonel Sigurd McDowell.[5]

As of 3050 to 3059 the commanding officer was Colonel Douglas Hoppe, a native of Carbonis.[6][7][1] In 3067 Colonel Hope was selected to act as the overseer of all Orloff Grenadiers regiments. Though he remained in command nominally, Brevet-Colonel Aumi Shapiro had operational control of the Grenadiers.[8]

As of 3085 the commanding officer is Colonel Judy Westings.[9]

Tactics

The command is trained to response to many battlefield situation with the right tactic, but in urban warfare they excel.[1]
