77th Division (ComStar)

Unit Description

The 77th Division is a ComStar military formation which is attached to its 2nd Army.

History

Clan Invasion & Battle for Tukayyid

Prior to Clan Invasion of 3049, the 77th Division was generally not known. It was created as a military force generally seen to garrison one of ComStar's HPG Stations.

The unit was activated along with of 2nd Army to fight Trial of Possession for Terra on Tukayyid. The unit was assigned as part of the garrison force for the Tukayyid cities of Humptulips and Olalla against Clan Jade Falcon forces. It was one of the few veteran skilled combat Divisions assigned to confront the Falcons. Majority of the forces went assigned to support were the green troops from the 11th's & 3rd Armies. It was supported by veteran sister unit in form of 394th Division and 1st Army's 309 Division. The Precentor Martial led the action of the defending forces, due to majority not having any experience in fighting.

In May, 3052 Clan Jade Falcon forces landed in Prezno Plain, with little resistance. During course of the campaign, the 77th Division was part of key ambush in the city of Olalla. The Falcon Guards Cluster's Heavy Alpha Star of OmniMechs which enter the city as part scouting mission. The Clan unit was utterly annihilated by the 77th Division whom from hidden bunkers hidden in false city of that ComStar had created. Along with tattered remains of the 111th Division & 201st Divisions. The 77th Division led the way, pushing the Falcon Guards into the suburbs of Olalla. Despite pushing the Guards into the suburban regions, the 77th Division along with the 201st were demolished by the Guards. Only Level III worth of troops from the Division survived, only through efforts of the Precentor Martial shifting troops from now ended Trials with the Clan Ghost Bear.

Tukayyid Aftermath & Rebuilding after ComStar Schism

The 77th Division barely surviving the battle with clans on Tukayyid, suffered mass of troop defections to the Word of Blake. Despite this, Precentor Martial ordered the Division to be rebuilt. Using 'Mech which had been mothballed on Terra and large production runs of newly built Nexus and Raijin BattleMechs rebuilt the unit. The 77th by 3062, had become 2nd Army's largest concentration of BattleMech forces and its most powerful formation.

Fire Brigade

During the years after newly-reformed Star League's elimination of the Clan Smoke Jaguar, the unit was deployed the principally in Draconis Combine and on border worlds of Federated Commonwealth. It noted action prior to the FedCom Civil War breaking out, was on Proserpina. Like other things, the unit was used to calm tensions with those respective border worlds. It continued to do until events of the Jihad, in 3067.

Officers

As of 3050, the unit's commanding officer was Precentor IV Victoria Minnick

As of 3055, the unit's commanding officer was Precentor I Jolling Rajii. By 3062, the Precentor Rajii has reached Precentor rank of VIII years.</ref>

As of 3067, the unit's commanding officer was Precentor XI William Plane -Unit station on Proserpina, with rated with Regular Skilled & considered Reliable. It had 95% strength rating, with tech levels 5% Clan, 75% Star League, 10%(3025 Rating A) older technology.

Tactics

During Tukayyid the Division utilities camouflage and urban fighting skills to ambush Jade Falcons assaulting their city and fight off occupation. The unit later developed and utilized its skills in peacekeeping in order to keep opposing military forces from attacking one another.

Composition History

The 77th Division's Composition is considered to be Combined Arms formation, however its unclear what components or Level IIs are assigned any specific types of unit types. (Mechs, Vehicles, Infantry, etc).

-The Division was had a B Level Equipment Rating, was considered to be Reliable Warriors and were Regular Skilled.

The unit's insignia is pair of golden eyes on a black disk.

Game Notes

The 77th Division as of Field Manual: ComStar, had the following Formation Abilities & advantages using advanced scenario rules for units. The Unit is considered to be well equipment at B Rating (3062), however, they can obtain higher (Level A rated) one vehicle/mech/fighter/infantry quality of equipment for every Level II formation it employs on a scenario. Members of the 77th receive a -1 for their to-hit modifiers if they are attempting use aimed shots to disable a enemy unit.
