Overview[edit]

The 889th Jump Infantry Regiment was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.

History[edit]

In 2764, the unit was assigned, as a part of the 17th Jump Infantry Division, XXI Corps, First Army, to the Terran Military Region and transferred to District 1 of the Capellan Confederation Military Region by 2765.[2]

The 889th spearheaded an attack against the Amaris-held planet of Epsilon Eridani. Their mission was to rescue trapped Star League troops hiding out in the mountains of the southern continent. The stranded troops were in reality a trap set by Amaris loyalists and the 889th was destroyed as they attempted the rescue. A few captives, including Carl Icaza, were prisoners for nearly a decade until freed by SLDF forces led by their parent command, the Golden Talon. Some survivors of the Hegemony Campaign followed General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus in 2784, Icaza among them.[2][3]
