Planetary Info
Eleusis is best known for the vast system of lakes, ponds, and streams that cover its surface. When seen from orbit this pattern resembles the shape of a passage from the Koran owned by the Sultan who sponsored the work. These lakes are a popular tourist attraction, stimulating the economy of this world near the Periphery.
Though a sultan funded the public works project that built the lake system, Muslims only account for a third of the planet's population. These religions still debate whether a government should be in the hands of the church or secular authorities. The other major religions on Eleusis are animism and the the Greek goddess Athena.[1]
The atmosphere of Eleusis is tainted and can only be breathed safely for a few hours a day. To counteract this every building has large air-conditioning and purification systems and the residents wear filtration masks when they travel outside.[1]
