Reunification War[edit]

Settled at some point prior to the Age of War,[1] during the Reunification War Lindenmarle became a target for the Star League Defense Force invasion of the Magistracy of Canopus during the fifth year of the military campaign. The SLDF task force commanded by Captain-General Marion Marik launched their attack on Lindenmarle in July 2582; defending Lindenmarle were the First and Second Canopian Light Horse, the First having been forced to retreat from the nearby world of Royal Foxx in March. These two regiments from the Chasseurs á Cheval faced the combined forces of the SLDF Fifty-sixth Brigade supported by the Second Oriente Hussars and the Juggernaut regiment of the Stewart Dragoons.[4][42][43]

Despite being outnumbered almost three to one, the two MAF regiments contested the invasion of Lindenmarle, but were forced to withdraw by the end of July. The occupation of both Royal Foxx and Lindenmarle by the Star League effectively locked out commercial traffic across the anti-spinward portion of the Magistracy and opened direct routes to the smaller, more lightly defended Magistracy outback worlds.[4][42][43] Although the SLDF would occupy Lindenmarle for the remainder of the war, the system would remain a part of the Magistracy of Canopus.[5]

The Jihad[edit]

Following the firebombing of the city of Crimson on Canopus IV, the Blakist Forty-first Shadow Division launched a series of attacks on other worlds within the Magistracy of Canopus between 3071[44] and 3073.[45] The Forty-first's rampage hit Bass before moving on to hit Lindenmarle, Megarez, Adherlwin, and Borgan's Rift;[44] the Forty-first was then caught and hammered by a joint Canopian–Capellan task force in the Aspropirgos system in Free Worlds League space, ending their rampage.[44][45]
