The Gunzburg Eagles was a BattleMech-type regiment serving the Free Rasalhague Republic. In the late 3060s it would be adapted and remade into a combat formation of the Rasalhague Galaxy to defend Clan Ghost Bear's Ghost Bear Dominion, and later the Rasalhague Dominion.

History[edit]

Clan Invasion[edit]

During the Clan Invasion the Gunzburg Eagles were stationed on Gunzburg. Many soldiers were eager to fight and avenge their fallen comrades. In the end, their leader, Tor Miraborg, was confronted with the option to fight and gain glory or to save the lives of his men. Miraborg chose to hand over the planet to Clan Wolf and accepted the reality of his situation.[1]

The Jihad[edit]

During the Jihad, the Gunzburg Eagles were one of those units that sat in a shifting middle ground, between the former KungsArmé and the Clan Ghost Bear touman. Officially designated as a part of Rasalhague Galaxy, the Eagles were due to deploy alongside other elements of the touman during the initial wave of attacks against the Word of Blake. That changed when the Second Freemen and First Kavalleri went rogue, and Rasalhague Galaxy was reassigned to try and resolve the mutiny, and when attempts to do so peacefully failed, the entire Galaxy spent the next five years patrolling the Ghost Bear Dominion, keeping the peace.[2] The Eagles survived the Jihad at close to full strength.[3]

Dark Age[edit]

When Clan Wolf abandoned their Occupation Zone in the mid-thirty-second century other nearby Clans moved swiftly to gain new territory. Thun was one of the worlds contested during the scramble for new possessions – both Clan Jade Falcon and the Rasalhague Dominion moved to take the world, with the 8th Falcon Velites attempting to capture Thun from the Gunzburg Eagles. Unfortunately for the 8th, the Eagles avoided direct combat while conducting repeated air strikes until the 8th had no choice but to retreat.[4]

Officers[edit]

Rank Name Command
Commanding Officers of the Gunzburg Eagles
Överste Franklin Mathiesne 3050[5]
Commanding Officers of the Gunzburg Eagles (Clan Ghost Bear)
Star Colonel Henrik Wergeland 3145[6]

Other Officers[edit]

Tactics[edit]

The Gunzburg Eagles rely on the heavy armor and firepower carried by their assault 'Mechs instead of using maneuver or combined arms.[8]

Composition[edit]

3079[edit]

  • Gunzburg Eagles (Regular/Reliable)[3]
Note: At this point in time the Eagles were stationed on Tukayyid and operating at close to full strength, but only two-fifths of the regiment was equipped with OmniMechs.

Rules[edit]

In Alpha Strike, the Eagles can make use of the Brawlers, Focus (Cluster Hitter), and Ground Attack Specialization Special Command Abilities. All 'Mechs are assault (Size 4) class, all fighters are heavy (Size 3), and all vehicles are either heavy or assault (Size 3 or 4).[8]
